Why is my head lights not working properly?

I have a 98 dodge durango my head lights are going on %26amp; off i changed light switch and now only head lights work no back running lights what could be the problem b4 i changed light switch all other lights were working properly
Why is my head lights not working properly?
Either the headlight switch is bad, you have the wrong switch,or there is a problem with the wiring. The headlights are on a circuit breaker that will reset automatically when tripped. The tail and dash lights are on a different fuse. Something is causing a short circuit, and this is tripping the circuit breaker!

Check your fuses to see if the tail light fuse is blown. I would also look at the new switch, and the wiring to find the problem!!

Good luck!!

Sounds like the daytime running light module is malfunctioning
clean battery cables and post. make sure that you have a good neg.ground at battery's neg post.
Good chance the daytime running light module is the problem......... disconnect and then try.
its why ARE my headlights....... sorry mom was a English teacher. go over all the electrical connections one by one...sometimes they get green corrosion on them.
First check the fuses for your headlights and taillights to be sure a short did not blow them, it could be that you installed the light switch incorrectly. Check the placement of the wires and make sure that they are on correctly. Then look for any obvious shorts or exposed wiring that may cause a short, not just under the dash but all along the wiring system.
