Boiler not working fuse ok but light on switch not on?

We have a gloworm combi boiler it was working this morning. I had no hot water so checked boiler. All lights on the boiler were off. Including the plug socket type bit next to boiler and its red light was not on. Changed amp in that socket and still does not light up. The fuse hasn't blown as works in another appliance. Fuse box is ok also Any ideas?

If the red light on the fused unit is not working, then that is the first place to look. It is likely that a wire has come out of the back of the fused unit, or from the previous outlet on the circuit. You will need a test meter or voltstick to determine where the fault is, although if you turn the power off at the fusebox, you could remove the faceplates and check for loose wires.

It is not advisable to fault-find without test equipment or without electrical knowledge, so if you're out of your depth, call an electrician.

Check in your fuse box for anything tripped out.
Firstly are you positive the fuse box is OK, if they are trip switches and one has tripped, you have to fully depress it before switching it back on. If you are sure this is OK then I would suspect you have a cable fault, as if the red l.e.d. is not lit then naturally power is not getting to the switch, or the switch itself needs replacing if its contacts are not %26quot;making%26quot;.

If you are going to investigate this yourself you need a circuit tester/voltmeter (unless you find a loose cable behind the switch), but make sure you have switched off the correct fuse before you start!!
The actual switch on the spur unit could be faulty or perhaps the heating circuit has its own rcd, which might be separate from the fuse box.If you have no knowledge of working with electricity you should really call out an electrician or gas engineer.Mind the fuse for the boiler should be 3 amp.
Check water pressure on the dial you may need to pressurize the boiler or the internal control fuse may have blown
