Tempremental flourescent light?

We have a small flourescentb light that sometimes goes on and then sometimes doesn't. It even lights then waits till your in the middle of something and cuts out on you. Have changed light bulb and wall switch....any other ideas?

I agree with Scot. Change the ballast or the entire fixture.

sounds like the ballist is bad. basically the power source for the light
Your question sounds like you *might* be talking about just a bulb...with the built-in ballast...not a florescent fixture with a ballast that you can change. If that is the case, and you've changed both the bulb and the switch, then go back further. If this is on a GFCI circuit, maybe the GFCI outlet (or GFCI breaker) is faulty (about $15). If it isn't on a GFCI circuit, then the circuit breaker in the panel is the next step back from the light and switch. If it is breaking the circuit (light goes out), but not tripping the breaker, then you can imagine there could be some bad connection there (wire to the breaker or internal to the breaker itself)...that is dangerous, not just inconvenient...but a new breaker will likely only be $7-$10 and reasonably easy to replace.
