Is it safe to change the light bulb?

The light bulb at the entrance to my block of flats needs replacing. The light is one which automatically switches on when it gets dark. Normally when I replace a light bulb, I'd make sure that the light is switched off at the time. However, I can't see a switch for this one. If I change the light bulb during the day (when it would have been off anyway) is that just as safe?
Is it safe to change the light bulb?
No, its not as safe. Something inadvertently covering the light sensor would cause the light to go on.

Find the breaker for the circuit the light is on and turn off the power there or have the landlord do it for you.
Is it safe to change the light bulb?
Not your job.
I'm sure it is

But anything can happen

So be carefull:)
Ask an electrician. Not to replace the bulb, but just for the answer.
Yes, its fine to change a light bulb with the switch on.
Of course its safe during the day, you are not going during the night.
yes
Use Caution but i'm sure that you will be fine.
as long as the light is off its fine. :)
It's probably 'on' all the time, with a light sensor. It's fairly safe to change so long as you don't touch the casing, or aren't grounded. But I'd guess there's some communal area where the meters and phone points enter the building and that's where the switch will be.
report it to your landlord, it's his responsibility
just don't touch the contacts. its not difficult. or wear big rubber gloves.
i say yes---just don't stick your finger in the socket or use any thing metalic. i would put a piece of cloth around the bulb
Yes. You'll be ok.
Assuming that the fixture is not broken and that there aren't bare wires or bare electrified metal present (as there might be if a ceramic socket has been cracked) you should be safe. Just don't stick your finger into the socket or touch the metal base of the bulb while you are screwing it in.
It can be done 'Hot' quite safely.

Even if it's off, treat it as though it's 'live'.

Only hold the glass part of the lamp, (bulb),

and hands off the fixture while you're touching the lamp.
The first rule in electrical safety is never take a shock intentionally. This means if there is a possibility of testing for the circuit to be hot, it should be done before touching. Find someone with electrical knowledge first. Be safe.
As long as the glass isn't broke you can change it any time. If it's broke, then turn off the switch or the breaker.
first switch off the electricity please,or you will get hurt~
All these morons saying it's just not safe is ridiculous. Just change the lamp Honey, you'll be OK.
OH Jesus, just change the damn bulb already ..willya..geeeez.
if you are with the council have them to replace the bulb just in case someone has not installed it properly your safety is first, tell the council that you nearly fell (lie) and the will be out quicker if they think that you might claim against them.

you can change the bulb but it might not be a standard bulb that you have in your house, and again you don't know how the fixture has been installed properly.BE CAREFUL!!
The fuses for this light are most probably in a cupboard on the ground floor which is kept locked. It is a job for the landlord or the estates manager.
it is the landlords job to replace the bulb, but in the day the fitting should not come live. not your job though
