Our 2001 VW Beetle has the epc light on we went to change the Brake Light Switch and now the brake lights are on constantly. Thinking it was a faulty switch we put the old one back in and it does the same thing. HELP

Make sure the switch you got is the UPDATED version. There were 2 recalls, so make sure (ask the dealer) if you have the most recent version. The replacement is covered under that recall, so you should just bring it in to dealer. Any extra cost, say scanning for error codes, would be extra. But the brake light switch will be free.
