Help with a 2 way light switch?

I have a light switch in my bedroom with a separate pull cord which I wanted to remove. I taped up all the wires from the pull cord and changed the light switch to a one way switch and taped up the yellow wire. But the lights not working, I would greatly appreciate you help!

Your reference to a %26quot;yellow%26quot; wire suggests that you are not in the US. It might also be good to give an idea if this %26quot;light switch%26quot; is in a wall, a lamp or controls some other kind of light.
